Josh Pyke and Bob Evans to Tour Together Once Again

Josh Pyke and Bob Evans to Tour Together Once Again

Perennial Aussie folk/rock-favourites Josh Pyke and Bob Evans reunite to tour across the country this November and December.

The co-headline tour will mark the second outing for the pair, after they collaborated on An Evening with Josh and Bob almost 10 years ago. Each artist has maintained a steady output of work since then, with Pyke releasing his fifth studio album But for all These Shrinking Hearts in 2015, and Evans set to release a new album Car Boot Sale this year, amid touring with his old Jebediah troupe.

“That first Evening with Josh and Bob 10 years ago was a fairly rudimental affair in retrospect,” Evans said in a press release, promising a more polished affair this time around for Another Evening with Josh Pyke and Bob Evans.

“Now, we have higher professional standards to which we hold ourselves and those bawdy jokes of a burgeoning bromance have developed in to, well, bawdy dad jokes.  Bah, who am I kidding?  We’re not that different 10 years on.”

Pyke says he “can’t wait to hit the road” for this tour with Evans, and reflects on the effect the first collaboration had on him, as he was just starting out as a touring musician at the time. “I learned a lot on that tour about how to do it right, how to perform, how to keep a relationship going back at home.”

Their first show will be at Adelaide’s The Gov on Thursday, November 24, followed by a show at Mannum’s The Pretoria on Friday, November 25. From South Australia the duo will head across to Western Australia to play, before jumping up the Queensland and snaking their way down the east coast from there throughout December.
