PJ Harvey Announces Australia/NZ Tour, Adelaide Show

PJ Harvey is bringing her unique style of rock to Australasia in the new year, with an Adelaide show taking place on Thursday, January 19.

PJ Harvey will return to Australia for a suite of shows in January of next year. Kicking off in Perth, Harvey’s second performance of the tour will be at the Therbaton Theatre here in Adelaide before she and her full 10-piece band roll on to the east coast and New Zealand.

The English singer, writer and poet has had a storied career in the alternative and experimental rock scenes ever since the 90s, where her unique style and voice set her apart from the crowd. Indeed, she is the only musical act to have picked up the UK’s coveted Mercury Prize more than once, which she picked up in 2001 and 2011.

Her ninth studio album The Hope Six Demolition project was released this year, and documented her own journey through diverse locations, including Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington DC.

While Harvey’s studio releases are regularly praised by critics and fans alike, her live shows are equally sought after experiences. Rolling Stone’s Kory Grow said of a recent performance in New York that “by the time the night was done the audience called for an encore, and when that was done, it screamed for another, chanting and clapping until well after Harvey’s microphone was removed. The show is that good.”

Tickets will be on sale from Thursday, September 1.
