The Garden Of Unearthly Delights’ Idolize Spiegeltent, Saturday, February 15

The cheekily provocative Wau Wau Sisters use humour, physical theatre, nudity, audience participation and country music to take us on a wild ride along the boundaries of the decent and the profane. It seems their shows have so offended some people that they have received death threats, and this show goes to hysterically funny lengths to explain why. The jokes tumble out at a cracking pace, and leave no corner of good taste unmolested (“It’s not gay if it’s family”). Bottom line is that considerable skill is required to present this show, particularly the breathtaking trapeze routine. And somehow a feigned innocence allows the show to retain an endearing quality. No doubt that aspects of this show may offend, but I suspect even those people will be hugely entertained. A word of warning – choose carefully where to sit, depending on whether or not you want to be part of the action. Rating: **** The Wau Wau Sisters – Death Threats (And Other Forms Of Flattery) continues at The Garden Of Unearthly Delights’ Idolize Spiegeltent until Sunday, February 23. * This review also appears on Rip It Up
