Shirley MacLaine has shined on the silver screen for almost 60 years and is about to light up Australia when she arrives in December for her stage show If They Could See Me Now – Shirley MacLaine. The star of Billy Wilder classics The Apartment and Irma La Douce as well as the immortal tear jerkers Terms of Endearment and Steel Magnolias, will deliver a stage show that will showcase her wit and insights into the “brightest stars and deepest secrets of American showbiz”, according to the press release. Away from the screen and MacLaine is a best selling author who will arrive in Australia with her latest book, What If… A lifetime of Questions, Speculations, Reasonable Guesses, and a Few Things I Know For Sure, in tow. MacLaine, who in the last few years has appeared in Richard Linklater’s Bernie, the TV juggernaut Downton Abbey as well as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, will appear for one night only in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.
