WOMAD souvenir: pot plant sale

Chilli bushes, flowering gums and banksias are among the half-price plants for sale following WOMADelaide this year.

Chilli bushes, flowering gums and banksias are among the plants for sale following WOMADelaide this year. Stratco sells the plants to the festival, but now that the event is over, WOMAD has a lot of greenery to shift. On Friday, March 13, all the festival’s plants will be on sale for half-price. The sale begins at 10am at Botanic Park and will continue until 1pm. The potted plants were used around the site, in stalls and backstage over the Adelaide Cup long weekend. Hundreds of plants, including small native varieties, bamboo and grasses will be on offer. Stratco is one of WOMADelaide’s sponsors, and has had a long relationship with the festival for their greenery. At the event, the garden/hardware supplier had a stall selling plants from $2.50 a pop. In 2012, they loaned the plants to WOMAD, but they’ve since moved to a more permanent plant-trade arrangement. The sale will be taking place at the northern end of Plane Tree Drive. Cash and EFTPOS will be accepted. To see photographs of the range of plants, head to Stratco’s Facebook page.
