The Other Wine Co. wins Hot 100 Wines SA

The Other Wine Co’s 2015 Grenache was named the most drinkable wine of 2015/2016 at the launch of Hot 100 Wines SA at Queen’s Theatre on Thursday, December 3.

The Other Wine Co. is a new venture from Shaw + Smith and their 2015 Grenache triumphed over more than 1200 local wines submitted for blind-tasting at the annual wine show now in its ninth year. Nearly 500 people attended the launch hosted by Maxwell Mason that counted down the Hot 10 South Australian wines of 2015/16.

Previous winners include Gentle Folk’s Blossoms (2014), Lofty Valley’s Pinot Noir (2013) and Lucy Margaux’s Noir de Florette (2012). The Other Wine Co’s Grenache was lauded as a “complete package” by the judges. The top 100 South Australian wines of the year are listed in the Hot 100 Wines SA publication, which is available for free at cafes, restaurants and bars around Adelaide.

St Hallett’s 2014 Old Vine Grenache won TAFE SA’s Dreamers and Believers Award while Liam Mugavin was announced as JamFactory’s Drink Dine Design winner.

Fino’s co-owner and manager Sharon Romeo won this year’s Howard Twelftree Award for Outstanding Contribution to Food. This is the second year of the award, which last year was won by chef Duncan Welgemoed (Africola). The top 10 wines of 2015/16 and all the winners are listed below.
