In Inner via Outer, Jonathan Kim explores the relationship between internal and external structures through refined three-dimensional wall works and a series of small, minimalist paintings – a direct outcome of time spent in studio lock down with limited access to found materials. Kim calls this relationship Gong-gan-seong (spatiality), which refers not only to the elements within each of the works, but also to the relationship of the works to the gallery space, and between the works and the audience.
