FELTspace, an artist-run initiative now in its sixth year, is preparing to hold its annual art auction ‘CASHspace’ next Thursday, October 23. More than 30 artists have donated work for the cause, including the SALA Festival cover artist Nicholas Folland, and Jenna Pippett of Mint Artist Studios. “I believe that FELTspace is one of the most important artist-run spaces in Adelaide,” says Pippett. “I think that a lot of young artists aspire to exhibit in the space. It’s certainly something that we should support so they’re able to continue to fill our eyeballs with amazing things.” Pippett’s auction piece, below, is a portrait of the artist merged with a photograph of her great aunt. The work complements Pippett’s main practice looking at family resemblance. Jenna Pippett, Portrait Two, 2013 “It’s a good little community,” Pippet says. Fellow Mint resident Carly Snoswell is also among the participating artists, a full list of which can be found below. Former FELTspace director, James L Marshall, was recently awarded one of two Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarships, which will pay for a year’s international study and associated living expenses. Other artists donating work to the auction include the following: Zoe Kirkwood, Let Them Eat Cake, 2013, hand-cast resin, Sytrofoam, metal fixings, nautical rope, upholstery tassels Amy Joy Watson, Sparkle Berg, 2013, balsa wood, watercolour, metallic thread, 110 x 95 x 55cm Tom Borgas, Postdigital Rubble (gold), concrete and gold leaf, variable (approx 50 x 50 x 25 cm)
