Nick Cave announces 2014 solo tour

Australia’s gothic balladeer Nick Cave is coming home for a series of solo shows over November and December.

With support from a small ensemble of musicians, Cave will be delving into his extensive back catalogue which includes Murder Ballads, The Boatman’s Call, Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! and most recently, 2013’s Push The Sky Away, which picked up two ARIA Awards and a slew of accolades.

Fans may even be treated to tracks from his early-career post-punk band The Birthday Party and the now defunct side project Grinderman. Cave said of the tour: “The aim is to try to create a unique show for Australia; something special and out of the ordinary.”

The man’s illustrious career will be honoured in the new film 20,000 Days on Earth, due out later this year. The film is the directorial debut by British visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard and portrays a fictionalised 24 hours in Cave’s life. 20,000 Days on Earth had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it received Best Directing and Best Editing awards and was selected to open this year’s Sydney Film Festival.

Cave last toured the country in 2013 with the Bad Seeds. To date, he has released over 21 albums, including 15 solo works.
