SA street artist Ankles is leaving town and leaving his assumed identity behind him.
After a nine-year war on Adelaide’s ‘insipid streetscape’, South Australian street artist Ankles, who designed The Adelaide Review‘s cover to celebrate our 30th anniversay earlier this year, is leaving town and shedding his assumed identity behind him. Ankles has been responsible for some of Adelaide’s most notorious urban artworks over the past decade, including the We Never Open! shopfront series and the Morphett Street bridge mural alongside Above, Tristan Kerr and more. To commemorate all the years of brightening some of Adelaide’s darkest corners, Ankles will host a final, one-night ‘funeral’ art sale at a secret location on Thursday, May 8 from 5.30pm. The art sale will feature discounted prints, paintings, strickers, sculptures and clothing accompanied by cheap beers and wines by local winemaker Deliquente Wine Co.
