The Adelaide Review is thrilled to announce the winner of the inaugural Outsider Art Award for SALA 2015.
Every year, The Adelaide Review provides $500 towards an outstanding artist or community presenting work in SALA. This year, we relaunched our prize as the Adelaide Review Outsider Art Award. “The Adelaide Review is honoured to present the inaugural Outsider Art Award to recognise exciting works created outside the boundaries of the established art scene,” says David Knight, Editor. We are thrilled to announce Adelaide Hills artist Michelle Willsmore as the winner. Willsmore’s work makes creative and skilled use of x-ray film to create stunning, light-interactive sculptures. Visually arresting – particularly the piece Doc and Rohan – X-ray Umbrella (Animal x-rays) – Willsmore’s art stood out as a particularly unique addition to the SALA Festival. Willsmore’s work will be exhibited as Transparent at the Tin Cat Cafe from July 7 to August 21. Follow Willsmore’s work via her Facebook page or website.
