Adelaide Fringe 2014 Poster launched

Spots are ‘in’ as the Adelaide Fringe launches its 2014 poster, featuring a unique and simple design.

Created by South Australian (now Melbourne-based) artist Sharon Moreno, the design features a grid of red and blue spots, which turn to charcoal wherever they overlap. “The theme for this year’s poster competition was ‘two colour collision’ and Sharon Moreno’s winning design of colliding red and blue spots has really captured this concept in a simple and stunning way,” Adelaide Fringe Director Greg Clarke said in a press release. “The Fringe is an extraordinary event unlike any other at which audiences and artists collide in an explosion of art, entertainment and great fun. The Fringe is also never in just one spot, with hundreds of amazing Fringe events popping up in spots everywhere.” Punters can expect to see an array of brightly coloured spots appearing all over the city in the lead-up to the festival. “I loved the idea of putting two images together to form something new,” said artist Sharon Moreno, who studied Visual Communication at UniSA and has since worked as a graphic designer in London and Melbourne. “Winning this competition is awesome! I absolutely love Adelaide and having my design used to promote an event that I adore in my hometown is a dream come true but also very unexpected.” Entries for the Fringe poster competition are open to all people, and this year’s designs flooded in from all over Australia and as far as Canada and Berlin. The 2014 Fringe Festival will kick off on February 14 until March 16. The program will be announced on Friday, November 29 adelaidefringe.com.au
