Starting from tonight (Friday, March 28) at the Goodwood Institute, the Adelaide Music Collective Sessions aim to highlight the best of South Australia’s musical talent. Across six sessions, 18 local artists will be presented, with 12 to receive an AMC Award for national and international achievement. Tonight’s event will be hosted by singer-songwriter Tasha Coates (The Audreys). Performers include Nancy Bates and John Baker (The Baker Suite), Echo & The Empress (on the Glastonbury bill) and acoustic talents John Schumann and Hugh McDonald (Redgum). The sessions will also be the platform to induct artists, starting with John Bywaters (The Twilights) and Peter Tilbrook (The Masters Apprentices), into the SA Music Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will be officially handed over to the AMC tonight. The Hall features a huge collection of music memorabilia, donated by radio host David Day. Among the items on display are a test pressing of Khe Sanh and a single by The Moonshine Jug & String Band who later became The Angels. The Adelaide Music Collective formed in late 2013. It brings together the creative talents and minds in the music and associated professions who wish to extend their collective knowledge for the benefit of South Australian musicians. Doors open tonight at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start. The event is ticketed for $36 (general) and $31 (concession) through TryBooking.
