Forward-thinking pop purveyors Janelle Monáe and Kimbra have announced a co-headline tour of Australia and New Zealand, with dates scheduled in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Melbourne. Not Adelaide. The pair supposedly spawned the idea for a The Golden Electric Tour when they shared the stage at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. It will be Monáe’s second visit to Australia following her one-off appearance at the 2012 VIVID Live Festival in Sydney. For Kimbra, it will be her first run of Australian dates since appearing at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in March. In an interview with Rip It Up earlier this year, Kimbra revealed for the follow-up to her 2011 debut album Vows, she sought out assistance from Daniel Johns, Van Dyke Parkes, Thundercat and Queens Of The Stone Age, among others. The album is expected out later in 2014.
