McLaren Vale’s big weekend of good music, food and wine, Gorgeous Festival, has unveiled its cruisey 2014 line-up. Following last year’s impressive bill that saw John Butler Trio, Eskimo Jow and Lanie Lane all make their way down south, topping this year’s bill is Australia’s favourite barefoot roots troubadour Xavier Rudd, who is currently hard at work on a brand new album. He will be joined by The Waifs, who re-formed and toured the country earlier this year; Queensland duo Busby Marou, who are also fresh from a stint on the road; roots legends The Beautiful Girls and indie heroes The Cairos. Rounding off the line-up is Sydney’s Little May, a trio of Canadians in Elliott Brood, Kim Wempe and Tim Chaisson, and a local contingent featuring Timberwolf, The Timbers, Echo & The Empress and Rin McArdle. As well as the usual throng of visual arts, wine tasting and cooking demonstrations, Gorgeous Festival will in 2014 debut its long table dinner on the opening night. Gorgeous Festival takes place at Serafino Winery on Friday November 28 and Saturday November 29. For more information and to become a mailing list subscriber – tickets for whom go on sale Monday August 25 – head to gorgeousfestival.com.au. All other tickets go on general sale “in the coming weeks”.
