A place for designers, creators, innovative thinkers and artists, Bowerbird Design Market is set to be bigger, bolder and brighter than ever.
Returning to the Adelaide Showground on Friday, May 1 for three days, Bowerbird is sporting over 50 new stallholders including South Australians Border Co, Dressed for Sunday, Heiss + Kalt Koncept and One Harper Lane.
Adelaide Hills business and new stallholder for this year, Dressed For Sunday, incorporates vintage design aesthetics from the 40s and 50s into bowties, bangles, brooches and various other accessories. Flourishing with geometric patterns and contrasting colours, Dressed For Sunday appeals to the vintage-savvy design hunters looking to add class and style to any outfit.
Owner Leah Bartsch says she’s quite excited to be a first time stallholder at this year’s Bowerbird Design Market and believes the Adelaide creative scene is constantly evolving.
“Since I started out, I’ve met so many talented people who create such unique products,” she says. “At the moment, I’m finding a lot of inspiration in prints from the arts and craft movement, which shows through some of the fabric prints that I’m currently using.”
With over 120 stallholders, the event allows punters and creators to add homemade creations and designs to their homes and wardrobes. Featuring items from across the design spectrum, such as furniture, lighting, homewares, fashion, accessories, shoes, jewellery and ceramics; Bowerbird Design Market aims to showcase Australia’s most innovative and creative people.
“I began making accessories for myself. As a lover of vintage inspired prints and clothing silhouettes from the 40s and 50s, it seemed natural to continue that through Dressed for Sunday,” says Bartsch.
Design demonstrations will be on show throughout the day as well as workshops, children’s activities and a ‘Friday night bar’ with live music on the lawns. Bowerbird will also be introducing an Emerging Designer section, supporting 12 up and coming design businesses to make their debut at the market.
Bowerbird Design Market Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3 , opening hours: Friday 4pm-9pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm Stirling Angas Pavilion at the Adelaide Showground Entry: adults $5, children free (12 and under)
