Richard Dawkins has cancelled his highly anticipated return to the Adelaide Writers’ Week and tour across Australia and New Zealand as a result of a minor stroke suffered on Saturday. Dawkins is expected to make a full or near-full recovery from the incident and is recuperating at home. The influential and divisive evolutionary biologist, speaker and writer was due to speak about the second installment of his memoirs, Brief Candle in the Dark: My Life in Science, at the Adelaide Writers’ Festival on Saturday, February 27. The memoir focusses on Dawkins’ life in work, controversies, enemies and stellar career. Adelaide Writers’ Week has wished Dawkins a speedy recovery, and has stated that the rest of the program will continue as expected. adelaidefestival.com.au/2016/adelaide_writers_week
