'Living Treasure' Thomas Keneally in Conversation at UniSA

One of Australia’s greatest novelists and living treasures, Thomas Keneally, is heading to Adelaide for a special ‘in conversation’ evening with Julia Lester.

The author of seminal works Schindler’s Ark and The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith will be in Adelaide on Wednesday, March 29 for the Hawke Centre-presented evening that will be hosted by former ABC presenter, Julia Lester. The night will offer a personal insight into the beloved author’s life achievements for the Booker and Miles Franklin award winner.

As a prolific writer, Keneally’s work makes up more than 30 novels, as well as screenplays, dramas and non-fiction books. These have earned him numerous national and international awards, a handful of honorary doctorates and the title of Australian Living Treasure.

Lester will be hosting the evening’s conversation. She is best known for her roles at the ABC, most recently as the presenter of Classic Drive at ABC’s Classic FM. The event will be held in the Allan Scott Auditorium at The Hawke Centre on UniSA’s City West Campus. Registration is free, just reserve your seat here first.

Keneally is known best for his book, Schindler’s Ark, inspired by Polek Pfefferberg, a Holocaust survivor that Keneally had met in 1980. Pfefferberg had an extensive collection of files on Oskar Schindler, a Nazi German industrialist who saved the lives of 1200 Jews during the Holocaust. The success of his novel saw its conversion into the Oscar-award winning film Schindler’s List, directed by Steven Spielberg.
