ADL Film Fest Teases Program with Martin Freeman, F*cking Adelaide and Sweet Country

Leading the cinematic charge is the world premiere of ADLFF Fund, Screen Australia and SA Film Corporation supported feature, Cargo. Described as a “zombie tear-jerker”, Cargo stars Martin Freeman, Natasha Wanganeen and David Gulpilil and follows the story of in infected man trying to protect his daughter from the chaos caused by a violent pandemic.

F*cking Adelaide, a six-part comedy/drama series from locals Closer Productions, will also make its world premiere at ADLFF. Funded through the ABC/Screen Australia ‘Long Story Short’ initiative and directed by Closer’s Sophie Hyde, F*cking Adelaide tells the story of a family reuniting in Adelaide from six different perspectives, and stars Pamela Rabe, Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Kate Box.

Warwick Thornton’s Sweet Country will also hold its Australian premiere at ADLFF following its selection at the Venice Film Festival. Sweet Country, Thornton’s first fictional feature after the critically-lauded Samson and Delilah, is an Australian western set in the 1920s on the Northern Territory frontier.

How To Talk To Girls At Parties from Neil Gaiman and John Cameron Mitchell and the documentary tribute to freediving pioneer Jacques Mayol, Dolphin Man, will also make their Australian premieres at ADLFF.

Further world premieres at ADLFF include Larissa Behrendt’s documentary on growing rates of indigenous child removal, After The Apology, plus Art on Screen short films, Remembering Agatha, Oddlands and Brumley’s Suitcase.
