A Day on the Green returns to Adelaide for its fifteenth year, bringing smooth tunes, good food and great wine to Peter Lehmann, Barossa Valley, Saturday 12th December.
Firmly established as one of Australia’s most popular music events, with more than 360 shows nationally and 2.75 million happy patrons this year’s concert will be no exception . After sell-out shows nationally earlier this year – Paul Kelly Presents The Merri Soul Sessions – will take centre stage, reprising this hugely entertaining project for A Day on the Green. During his much-acclaimed and always-innovative career, we’ve come to expect Paul Kelly to push his musical boundaries and this performance will undeniably be notable.
The Merri Soul Sessions is a unique concert experience with 10 musicians and performers led by Paul with lead vocalists Dan Sultan, Clairy Browne, Kira Puru, Vika Bull and Linda Bull joining for an electrifying soul revue. All six vocalists will perform songs from the highly acclaimed album ‘Paul Kelly Presents The Merri Soul Sessions’ along with a good dose of Paul Kelly hits.
However, it doesn’t stop there. The exceptionable concert line up will also welcome several very special guests to the Peter Lehmann winery venue including; Lucinda Williams, Kasey Chambers and Marlon Williams.
Hailing from Louisiana, USA, Lucinda Williams returns to Australia for the first time since 2012. The three time Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter has navigated down a path of her own for more than three decades, amassing an adoring fan base along the way. Named “America’s best songwriter” by Time Magazine in 2002, Williams has released 11 acclaimed studio albums including the landmark ‘Car Wheels On A Gravel Road’ and last year’s double-album ‘Down Where the Spirit Meets The Bone’.
Our very own country queen Kasey Chambers also joins the tour, as does the special talent that is Marlon Williams making this one of the “must-see” bills of the year. Chambers, who has previously toured with Williams in the US is one of her biggest fans and is delighted to be part of this very special tour. Having recently won Album and Single of the Year (for ‘Bittersweet’) at the 2015 Tamworth Country Music Awards and Country Album of the Year at last year’s ARIA’s, her seventh solo album ‘Bittersweet’ reaffirms her reputation as one of our best story-tellers.
New Zealand born singer/songwriter, Marlon Williams also joins the ticket. His self-titled debut album, showcases his amazing much-talked about voice, whilst his live shows have won rave reviews. Described as “the impossible love child of Elvis, Roy Orbison and Townes Van Zandt” he has been attracting increasing amounts of attention for his unique voice and enthralling stage presence.
Tickets are on sale 10:00am, Friday 21st August.
