Jeff Tweedy announces Australian tour

The Wilco frontman will embark upon his first ever Australian solo tour later this year.

Having spent close to three decades releasing music with Wilco, Uncle Tupelo and Golden Smog that sits on the border of alternative rock and Americana, Tweedy has finally broken out as a solo performer in the last two years.

In late 2018 Tweedy released Warm, his first original solo album after two decades with Wilco. Although technically his second solo release after Together At Last saw the songwriter revisit and strip back tracks from Wilco and other projects, Warm also came on the heels of his memoir Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back). So, in addition to playing new songs and acoustic interpretations of old songs, it seems likely that Tweedy will wax retrospective between songs.

Joining Tweedy will be Australian singer-songwriter Jen Cloher, whose 2013 album In Bloody Memory was produced by Tweedy at his Chicago studio The Loft. Cloher also returned to release a live EP partially recorded at the space in mid-2018.

Tweedy will conclude his Australian tour in Adelaide with a show at The Gov on Tuesday, May 28.
