Port Augusta-born rapper Ngarrindjerri man Jono Stier, who performs under the name Eskatology, will complete the music non-profit’s inaugural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander scholarship in 2019.
Jointly funded by Music SA and a private donor, the program was announced back in January and will see Stier complete a part time Cert IV in Music Industry (business) through Music SA while also working one day a week in the organisation’s office, gaining a variety of skills and experience through its industry programs and events like Umbrella: Winter City Sounds and the South Australian Music Awards.
In addition to this scholarship, Music SA has also named the recipients of its two other annual internships. Now in its second year, the Moshtix-supported Female Music Business scholarship has been awarded to musician, emerging industry worker and mental health advocate Ashlea Jaye. Finally, prolific musician and titular frontman of Adelaide rock group Donnarumma, Luigi Donnarumma, will take part in the Peter Hanlon Internship for 2019. Both will also complete a Cert IV through Music SA.
