French Impressionist Masterpieces Coming to Art Gallery of SA

The exhibition, AGSA’s first collaboration with Paris’ famous Musee d’Orsay, will feature 10 works from Monet, including La Pie (The Magpie) and The Water Lily Pond, Pink Harmony, as well as masterpieces from Cezanne, Pissarro and Morisot. The exhibition will chart the “revolution of colour that lies at the very heart of Impressionism”, according to the press release.

AGSA director Nick Mitzevich says Colours of Impressionism is the “most important exhibition ever to be shown” at the art gallery.

“With so few Impressionist works held in Australian collections, the exhibition presents a rare opportunity for Australians to see the movement’s radical evolution of colour,” Mitzevich said in a release. “I would like to thank the Musée d’Orsay for sharing this remarkable collection with Australia.”
