In its ADAPT digital season, Australian Dance Theatre will dip into its previously-unseen performance archives to stream key works from artistic director Garry Stewart’s 20 year tenure.
HELD is a work that explores the nature of everyday physics, perception and the body-in-action via the nexus of dance and live photography. HELD was made in collaboration with one of the worlds most widely known dance photographers, New York based Lois Greenfield who captures live dance onstage throughout the performance. Stewart references seminal writings on photography by Susan Sontag and Roland Barthes in a work that interrogates power in the framing and replication of the body.
