With its regular 2020 program off the cards for obvious reasons, the Melbourne International Film Festival has reinvented itself as a nationwide streaming festival that can be safely enjoyed from living rooms and laptop screens around the country.
With titles staggered throughout the festival’s 7 – 23 August run, this week features Kuessipan, a drama set on an Innu reserve in north-eastern Quebec, Irish thriller Rose Plays Julie (starring Game of Thrones’ Aidan Gillen) and US ‘sugar daddy’ comedy Shiva Baby.
Other 2020 festival picks include psychodrama Black Bear (starring Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza and Girls’ Christopher Abbott) and Spanish director Pablo Larraín’s Gael García Bernal-starring Ema.
Tickets can be purchased for each individual film, with capacities strictly limited.
