While the incremental loosening of restrictions means some restaurants and venues have already resumed trading in a limited capacity, from 1 June essentially all hospitality venues – even those that are only serving beer – will be able to resume trading.
There are some catches – there’s a new maximum capacity of 80 people, to be spread among smaller, 20-capacity rooms – and all the 1.5 metre and one-person-per-four-square-metre social distancing rules still apply.
Which means that while some venues will be carrying on almost as usual (“We have pretty clear-cut areas that makes it pretty simple for us,” the publican of The Exeter tells us), things might be a little weird at others.
Of course, the process of restarting a pub means some – like The Austral and The Crown & Anchor – won’t be reopening until a little later in the week.
With that out of the way, it’s time for this article to do what it says on the tin: here’s where you can go have a pint.
