Adelaide dining personality and top ranking SA contestant of Masterchef 2015, Jessie Spiby will host a six-course Asian fusion dinner at the Alpha Box & Dice cellar door this June.
The intimate banquet will see Alpha Box & Dice’s vintage-décor cellar door transform into a longtable dining hall. A convivial atmosphere will encourage guests to share food and wine, converse, and be merry. Spiby says the feel and philosophy of Alpha Box & Dice fits perfectly with her own new catering venture, Jessie Does Food. “It was quite an easy collaboration really,” Spiby said in a press release. “I love Alpha Box & Dice wines and I adore their cellar door. I couldn’t think of a better venue to be hosting this particular feast.” The idea of an Australian/Asian fusion menu came from discussion with the folks at Alpha Box & Dice as both Spiby and the progressive winery wanted to “do something different.” “For me food needs to be colourful and packed with flavour. This menu really represents my style of cooking and the things I love most about food. It is about having fun and showcasing our incredible local produce.” As a passionate South Australian, Spiby reflects on the fortune of being in close proximity to a huge range of agricultural and wine regions, saying, “we are so lucky here to have such incredible produce available to us, which is literally just on our door step in McLaren Vale, and of course fantastic wines.” Australia’s strong multicultural background and emerging unique cuisine are key to the evening’s menu as Spiby aims to combine her “love of South East Asian flavours and our own native ingredients.” “Think dumplings with crispy salt bush and spicy, sticky Thai-inspired Buffalo wings with native pepper.” Many of the planned events and menu for the evening will remain under wraps until the day comes, but Alpha Box & Dice Managing Director Dylan Fairweather says the focus of the night will be to foster connection between the guests. “Alpha Box & Dice strives on building community through everything we do. Whether we’re hosting a dinner in the cellar door, sponsoring an event, or sending out products to our wine club subscribers, we want our wines to connect people and bring them together,” says Fairweather.
