Citing the “incredible journey” that the modern Italian restaurant has been through, Marcin Kierno, Assaggio co-owner along with his father Jan Kierno, tells The Adelaide Review that the business was now up for sale, and would trade until it had changed hands.
Kierno says that he was looking to sell the business as a package, but less likely to pass on the Assaggio name to the next owner. Having had told staff and suppliers about the sale and anticipated closure, Kierno said the business was still profitable, and the change in direction was based more upon his father’s desire to retire and his own choice not to take it over completely.
In a statement to Assaggio’s clientele, Kierno said, “This would not have been possible without your belief in us and continued support, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we look forward to working with you all until then.”
