To highlight the resurgence and popularity of this sector, The Adelaide Review and the Australian Institute of Architects will host the next event as part of the Design Conversations panel series, Design Conversations: Restaurant and Bar Design, on Tuesday, March 8 at 6pm. The Design Conversations speaker series occurs twice a year, and provides an opportunity for members of the design community and the general public to hear from the designers behind their favourite buildings and spaces. It will be my pleasure to chair this upcoming discussion with panel members who are responsible for some of the most well-known and highly commended hospitality fit outs in the city. These creatives include Dave Bickmore (studio-gram), Claire Kneebone (interior designer), Tony Giannone (Tectvs), Tony Zappia (Studio Nine) and Ryan Genesin (Genesin Studio). The event will see these architects and designers discussing the importance of design resolution in bars and restaurants, how they respond to the growing public interest in design and their future predictions for Adelaide’s dining and bar design schemes. Design Conversations: Restaurant and Bar Design will be held at the Office for Design and Architecture South Australia (ODASA), perfectly situated on one of Adelaide’s busiest and well-known hospitality strips on Leigh Street, demonstrating the vitality that the city’s nightlife has reclaimed in recent years. On the night, attendees will also have an exclusive preview of the 2016 SA Architecture Awards exhibition, before its official opening on Thursday, March 10. Wine tastings will be provided by The Adelaide Review‘s Hot 100 Wines. The event is free to attend, but registrations are essential.
