Hundreds of demonstrators took to Adelaide’s streets last night as part of a series of actions around the country in support of the remote central Australian community of Yuendumu, which is seeking answers following the death of 19-year-old Warlpiri man Kumanjayi Walker.
Kumanjayi Walker’s cousin Samara Fernandez addressed the crowd alongside representatives from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, reading statements from senior Warlpiri men and women and calling for an independent investigation, the release of police footage from the fatal shooting and wider justice reform.
